Job summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen to work within our Neuromodulation service based at Antelope House (Southern Health Foundation Trust), and we are looking to recruit a band 3 Senior support worker full time). The neuromodulation clinic provides Electroconvulsive Therapy (ECT) and Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS) serving a population of around 1.5 million people. The clinic provides treatment for both inpatient and community services.

The team is friendly supportive passionate and dynamic with the same clear vision of providing and delivering excellent patient centred care. The team is made up of a range of disciplines including nurses, technicians, psychiatrists, anaesthetists and operating department practitioners. The team undertakes a range of best practice work providing training and professional development within the Trust and nationally.
The highly motivated multi-disciplinary team provides an integrated mental health service to a diverse and multi-cultural population and endeavours to reflect this in the workforce
Main duties of the job
The ECT clinic currently runs four mornings a week, and the TMS clinic runs 5 afternoons a week. There is a requirement within these roles to undertake ECT assessment and post treatment care and audit.
The clinic is accredited to ECTAS (Electro Convulsive Therapy Accreditation Service). The ECT accreditation scheme was established in 2003 to support the quality improvement and best practice of ECT clinics in the UK and Ireland and is one of 20 networks within the College Centre for Quality Improvement within the Royal College of Psychiatrists. These roles will encompass both clinical and administrative requirements including monitoring and meeting the standards required for ECTAS.
You will develop skills and competencies appropriate to a range of areas within the peri-operative environment supporting the registered nurses/ ODP's.
The post holder will be required to support and provide care to patients throughout their treatment within the ECT and TMS clinic, including carrying out pre and post ECT and TMS checks. You will develop and maintain excellent working relationships with patients and the multi-disciplinary teams both within the ECT and TMS clinics and the referring teams.
There will be on-going support for mandatory training and any external courses relevant to the roles. Specific in-house training to develop knowledge and skills within the role is delivered regularly as well as attending ECT Specialist Interest groups and external conferences.
