Job summary
We are looking to recruit registered adult nurses with experience of working in inpatient physical health community hospitals at band 6 or above to join our legacy mentor team.
The Legacy Mentor role should appeal to those who have several years of clinical experience and a passion for supporting the next generation of early career leaders. You will be helping newly qualified nurses by imparting your knowledge, skills and experience through coaching, education and guidance supporting them to gain the competence and confidence to progress their careers.
This opportunity is fixed term for the next 10 to 12 months with secondments and flexible working considered.
Main duties of the job
You will act as a mentor, coach, teacher and assessor and provide a presence in practice to ensure our band 5 nurses receive dedicated support to develop as safe and competent practitioners. In addition, you will contribute to a development programme which aims to prepare our nurses to progress to band 6 roles. A key part of the legacy mentor role is holding responsibility for signing off competencies.
You will need to demonstrate empathy and patience, be passionate about your profession and be able to provide pastoral support to others. You will need to be confident in building relationships and collaborating with others. You will be providing coaching and mentoring, and we are happy to provide training for someone with the right skills and attitude needed for this role.
