Job summary
To provide a comprehensive medical secretarial support to ensure the smooth and efficient operation of the CMHT clinical staff. Communicate with a range of internal and external professionals and organisations whilst providing good customer service experience for all patients at all times.
Ensure a friendly and professional ethos within the team/department for patients and staff.
Main duties of the job
To provide a comprehensive, timely and accurate secretarial support to the clinical staff based at the CMHT. Ensuring confidentiality of patient records is maintained according to Data Protection and Caldicott Guardianship guidelines and sensitively when dealing with contentious and complex information, liaising with other departments.
To carryout the administration of all new referrals, sending out appointments, liaising with patients or the carers to answer any queries they may have. Type up assessments and carryout any administration required following the assessment.
Coordinate and organise actions arising from correspondence and ensure prompt and efficient response, as required, by the medical staff. Coordination with other professionals, outside Agencies, legal staff, Trust staff etc and maintaining records.
Manage and prioritise own workload, arrange appointments, take, transcribe and type letters, arrange follow up actions as instructed, maintaining Consultant diaries to ensure a smooth and effective service, arranging for clinic lists to be available to reception staff before clinic commences and the retrieval of clinic lists at the end of the clinic, in line with the Trust key target timescales.
