Job summary

We are seeking to appoint a motivated, enthusiastic, and inspirational Practice Development Nurse (PDN) to work across our three Adult Forensic Mental Health Units.
As the PDN you will be responsible for positively influencing and improving the quality of the nursing practice and learning environment. You will be providing support, supervision, educational and professional development opportunities for all within the practice setting of our Services. You will act as a positive and professional role model in promoting clinical excellence and offer expert professional development advice.
The post holder will be expected to positively promote and develop educational standards within the Service, working to improve nursing practices with bands 2 -- 6. This will include newly qualified staff going through Preceptorship, and a number of skilled mentors and preceptors across all our Mental Health Services. You will be expected to be involved in the delivery of clinical education and support assessment of learners in practice as well as supporting the assessment of clinical competence of staff.

Main duties of the job
The post holder will positively influence and improve the quality of the nursing practice and learning environment by providing support, supervision, educational and professional development opportunities for all within the practice setting for our Adult Secure Services. They will act as a positive professional role model in promoting clinical excellence and offer expert professional development advice, maintaining high levels of clinical excellence and attitude are consistent and promoted at all times.
To promote and develop educational standards from bands 2-6, students, Preceptorship, and improve the quality and number of skilled practice assessors and practice supervisors, practice educators and preceptors within Southern Health NHS Foundation Trust.
The post holder will also be working closely with the Inpatient and Community Leadership Teams and identify opportunities for development in practice and have an excellent knowledge of professional requirements and political drivers that have an influence on education.
The post holder will be expected to have excellent experience of the practice area and be able to put together educational programmes to meet identified need at short notice and evaluate the success of these.
