Emergency Practitioner Development Post

Petersfield Urgent Treatment Centre are offering a fantastic opportunity to join the team of practitioners to develop and progress within the area of urgent care. This role offers a supported position in which to build on previous experience to develop as a practitioner from Band 6 to Band 7 gaining the skills and knowledge required of an emergency practitioner through specific courses and competencies. The department will support the development of the successful candidate in achieving their competencies through a period of learning and experience, alongside university and local in-house modules to meet the requirements of a Band 7 Emergency practitioner position.
The successful candidate should be an experienced practitioner in minor injuries and/or minor illness with relevant experience in an unscheduled or primary care setting. On completion of these competencies and the relevant courses (History Taking and Physical Assessment, Minor Injury or Minor Illness course as required, Xray interpretation and others deemed relevant) you will progress to a Band 7 role. Acting within your own level of competence and professional boundaries you will be involved in all aspects of the patient journey from history taking, clinical assessment, decision making, treatment and management.
It is expected that this will take 12-18 months.

Main duties of the job
*To provide professional, high quality care to patients and their families throughout their time in the UTC by supporting the nurse / paramedic practitioners in the delivery of direct patient care.
*To provide safe and effective assessment, diagnosis, treatment and discharge for patients attending the department, in line with national and local guidelines and pathways.
*To contribute to the development and evaluation of clinical practice within the UTC.
*To contribute to the smooth running of the department.
