Winchester Adult CMHT is looking to recruit a RGN to support the patients with their physical health care by way of observations and investigations, along with administration of depot injections and phlebotomy in managing clozapine clinic.

To fulfil the requirements of this role you need to hold a professional registration Registered General Nursing and competent in completing high quality physical health care. The RGN will run physical health clinic, support clozapine clinic and depot injection clinic and excellent communication skills are a must.

Main duties of the job

The Physical Health Nurse ensures patients with severe and enduring mental illness have access to physical health monitoring within the CMHT and to report findings back to the GP and CMHT as required.

The Physical Health Nurse manages the administration and care of depot antipsychotic medications in depot clinic for patients with severe and enduring mental illness.

The Physical Health Nurse manages the phlebotomy and testing of bloods along with the care in the clozapine clinic.

The Physical Health Nurse ensures patients in the community that may be housebound have access to physical health monitoring and their medication in an accessible way.

The Physical Health Nurse will provide expertise in their own discipline to the wider team and area.

The Physical Health Nurse liaises and works closely with the Registered Mental Nurses and Care Co-ordinators to ensure all patients in the clozapine and depot clinic receive regular risk assessments and the Physical Health Nurse will be an integral part of the annual medical review for each patient with the Responsible Clinician.

The Physical Health Nurse will work closely with the registered Mental Health Nurses and Care co-ordinators to ensure all Key Performance Indicator targets are met for the patient group.
