Job summary
The Research & Innovation Department at Southern Health NHS Foundation Trust and University of Southampton is looking for a highly motivated Research Assistant to deliver to the Mental Health Mission objective in treatment-resistant affective disorders. Particularly treatment resistant depression (TRD) as part of a busy and innovative research department.
Within Southern Health NHS Foundation Trust, research is considered an important component of a successful NHS provider organisation and there are a number of active on-going clinical trials and service evaluations. Research trials are important to ensure that the best advice and treatments are being provided to patients. Southern Health has a core Research & Innovation Department which supports research across services throughout the organisation.
For internal applicants, the fixed term post may provide a secondment opportunity. You should discuss this with your current line manager prior to making an application to confirm that, should you be offered the post, you would be able to return to your substantive role after the period of cover has ended.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will support the set up and delivery to the Mental Health Mission grant objectives as part of a team. Development of enhanced access research clinic.
Administrative support for clinic set up and integration with local clinical services.
Involve local PPIEP to guide the development and functioning of the research clinic.
Support the enhancement of clinic activity both directly via funded clinical posts and by sharing best practice in terms of patient identification and recruitment.
Support the enhancement of recruitment to industry and academic TRD studies.
Support the enhancement of expertise in TRD research. Support the enhancement of access to innovative treatments.
Support the dissemination of expertise in the management of mood-disorders.
