Job summary
Southern Health NHS Foundation Trust are looking for a Senior Network Engineer to support the digital departments operating procedures through by ensuring the smooth running of voice and data networks used by the organisation. Working closely with the Network Manager to develop and implement the data network strategy, the successful candidate will enjoy a varied role with the opportunity to work both autonomously and alongside other digital and operational teams.
The successful candidate will work in a small team as a technical subject matter expert and point of contact for the ICT networking and telecoms technologies and issues. The post holder will be responsible for providing and maintaining the integrity of the voice and data network, ensuring access is maintained to all network based, and other associated systems. In addition being responsible for ensuring adequate security arrangements, along with providing support to the infrastructure systems team, this role is varied and provides opportunities to develop a better understanding of the wider digital agenda.
The successful candidate will have extensive experience of supporting complex networking and telecoms environments along with a CCNA Qualification.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will provide support activities in line with department's operating procedures, ensuring the smooth running of voice & data networks. The Team is responsible for the maintenance and development of the voice & data networks used by the organisation.
The post holder will be a technical subject matter expert and point of contact for ICT Networking and Telecoms technologies and issues.
To provide technical support and guidance for changes and maintenance and to develop and support robust networks and telecoms solutions.
This is a role where the post holder may periodically be required to provide support to the Technical Infrastructure Systems Team to ensure that the underlying IT Infrastructure is maintained and available.
The post holder will be required to work closely with the Network Manager to develop and implement the voice and data network strategy.
To be responsible for providing and maintaining the integrity of the voice and data network, including VOIP, ensuring that access is maintained to all networked based patient and other associated systems.
To coordinate the Networks Engineers and to allocate work as appropriate.
To ensure that adequate security arrangements are maintained to provide suitable recovery procedures in the event of a network or telecoms failure.
The nature of the post will mean that several of the activities will require completion outside the normal core office hours. The post may also be part of on-call arrangements.
