Job summary

Located at Tatchbury Mount, Southampton; Austen House is a 14 bed, low secure hospital for children and adolescents (aged 12-18) with mental health needs.

Austen House is hugely helping to meet the national shortage of beds for young people with specialist mental health needs, meaning that patients living in the south of the country will be able to access treatment closer to home, preventing them and their families having to travel long distances to receive the care they need.

Austen House operates 24/7 therefore, nurses are required to work shifts which will include nights, weekends and public holidays. There are a variety of shifts available and all requests for flexible and part time working will be considered.

As a Healthcare Support Worker you will provide physical and psychological care to service users in accordance with the specified plan of clinical care. You will carry out duties as designated by the person in charge and accurately record patient/service user information. In addition to this, you will provide support to relatives/carers.

As a Health Care Support Worker you will work closely with service users, their families, friends and carers. You will play an important role in ensuring those who use our services have a positive and supportive experience.

Main duties of the job

As a Healthcare Support Worker you will provide physical and psychological care to service users in accordance with the specified plan of clinical care. You will carry out

duties as designated by the person in charge and accurately record patient/service user information. In addition to this, you will provide support to relatives/carers.

Please note Austen House is a 24 7 service, working shifts consisting mostly of long days 7am-8.30pm, long day twilights 10am-11.30pm and nights 7.30pm-7.45am. It is essential that staff members are able to work a combination of the aforementioned shifts and can work across a 7 day week. Flexi working requests will be considered.

Please also note that due to our remote location and shift start and end times, local buses do not provide a service which will be a reliable regular mode of transport to get to and from work.
