Information:

This job is now closed

Job summary

Would you like a fast-moving role that helps patients and supports clinicians, where no two days are the same? Would you like to take your first step into an administrative career in the NHS or are you an experienced administrator looking for a fresh challenge? If so, we are seeking enthusiastic, confident, and motivated Administrators within our busy Single Point of Contact (SPoC) service. Successful candidates will be part of the team providing a service that includes answering telephone calls from patients, carers, GPs, hospitals, the Ambulance Service, and other health care agencies and professionals, and processing email referrals and messages received by the team. You will need to be able to pay attention to detail and accurately record information on the electronic patient record and pass this electronically or verbally to clinical colleagues in a timely way to ensure seamless, consistent, and safe care to patients. The team also provides general administrative support to the Integrated Community Teams (ICTs), which consist of nurses, health care support workers and therapists.

Working hours will be rostered between 8:00am and 6:00pm. Monday to Friday is our busiest period, however, you will be required to work your contracted hours which includes weekend and bank holiday cover on a rota basis, for which enhancements will be payable.

Visits to the team are strongly encouraged.

Main duties of the job

You'll need to work calmly and effectively under pressure and possess good attention to detail. You should be able to demonstrate strong interpersonal and communication skills, as callers to the SPoC may have difficulty with hearing or English may not be a first language. A significant proportion of SPoC work entails using a variety of software packages so strong IT skills are vital to this position. You must also be proficient in Microsoft Office, including Excel and Word.

As a team player, you will be able to prioritise your work to meet deadlines and have a customer focused approach. Knowledge of community health and social care or experience within a healthcare setting is desirable; however, previous experience of working within the NHS is not essential, as full training will be provided.
