Job summary

The Southampton Rehabilitation Outreach Service offers community-based rehabilitation to people across the whole of Southampton. We offer time limited tailored rehabilitation interventions to support service users to maintain successful discharge from hospital, and to service users who are living in the community and require rehabilitation support to maintain their recovery. We are a client centred service, supporting people to work towards the goals they identify. Our outcomes are measured on the satisfaction of our service users, and we have had very positive results. Our interventions have included supporting people to develop skills for activities of daily living, develop confidence using public transport, participate in community social groups and activities, and to obtain voluntary work.

Main duties of the job

We are currently looking for a Band 3 Mental Health Support Worker to complement our small but passionate team, which is currently comprised of an Occupational Therapist, Mental Health Practitioner and Support Workers. As a Support Worker you would be working with service users in their own homes and the community to work towards the goals they identify. You will help to implement the interventions planned by the Occupational Therapist and Mental Health practitioner. We are looking for someone with experience of working in mental health, particularly in rehabilitation or community settings, with a passion and enthusiasm for promoting independence and recovery.

The service is still developing, providing an opportunity for you to contribute to the development and growth of the service to maximise benefits for our service users. The service operates Monday to Friday with no requirement to work any unsociable hours. We have an office base in central Southampton, however there is some flexibility to do some working from home. We work closely with other Mental Health Community Teams across Southampton in addition to local charities and other supportive organisations. A valid driving licence and car are required for this role.

For more information or to arrange a visit to Forest Lodge, please contact Thomas Franklin Rehabilitation Manager on 023 8231 0250. Or Andy Burnett community Rehab team leader 07341 862032
