Petersfield Urgent Treatment Centre

Are you an experienced staff nurse or paramedic looking to progress your career in the field of Urgent Care?

We are a practitioner led service, supported by remote GP's, and committed to delivering high quality urgent care to the local population of Petersfield and the surrounding areas. The UTC is open 08:00 -- 20:00 hours, 365 days a year, offering treatment for both minor injury and minor illness to adults and children over the age of one. Patients can pre-book appointments through NHS 111 as well as walk-in attendance.

Following the successful launch of the Urgent Treatment Centre here in Petersfield we are now pleased to be able to offer a trainee emergency nurse / paramedic practitioner post to the successful candidate.

The successful applicant must be a registered nurse or paramedic with at least two years emergency department experience, paramedic experience or equivalent. A place will be offered on an Emergency Practitioner training course following successful completion of the History Taking and Physical Assessment in Clinical Practice Course (which is a prerequisite for the WECC Course). Courses will be financially supported, but will require time and dedication on the part of the applicant. Between and during completion of courses the candidate will work in the urgent treatment centre learning and practicing the skills of triage, wound care, plastering and suturing.

Main duties of the job

To undertake the WECC Emergency Practitioner Course, whilst working in and being supported by the UTC in Petersfield. To learn the skills required in order to work as a fully autonomous practitioner.

To provide professional, high quality care to patients and their families throughout their time in the UTC by supporting the nurse / paramedic practitioners in the delivery of direct patient care.

To provide safe and effective initial assessment / advice to patients attending the department, in line with national and local guidelines and pathways.

To contribute to the development and evaluation of clinical practice within the UTC.

To contribute to the smooth running of the department.

Candidates must demonstrate a good understanding and implementation of Governance, both clinical and information. They must be fully compliant and competent with safeguarding policies and procedures.
