Job description

Job responsibilities

We work a combination of long days, day shifts, night shifts and weekends. We would welcome potential applicants to come and spend some time with us and we will pay through NHSP if you'd like to experience a shadow shift and get a good understanding of the role.

The Mental Health Liaison Service in Winchester and Basingstoke is expanding and it is an exciting time to join us. We now offer a liaison service to not only the Emergency Department, but specialist assessment and guidance throughout all wards on both inpatient units. We are a multi-disciplinary core team of professionals including, Dual Qualified Nurses, Mental Health Nurses, Social Workers and Occupational Therapists and Psychiatrists.

Clinical presentations of the patients we support spans a wide spectrum from organic disorders, psychosis, self-harm, severe depression or somatoform disorder to adjustment reactions, delirium, dementia and abnormal health behaviour.

One of the most challenging and fascinating parts of the Liaison Practitioner role is that every day is completely different to the previous. It can be a fast paced and unpredictable, but never boring. We are a close, funny and supportive team with opportunities for learning and development. We undertake monthly team supervision as well as regular twice monthly teaching sessions facilitated by different members of the team.

Previous experience of working in mental health setting would be required, however the most important requirement is that you have the commitment to support with the ongoing expansion and development of the Liaison service and a passion for working with individuals in a recovery focussed model.

If you would like to discuss anything above then please contact either Renata Dummett (Basingstoke -- 07881353278) or Laura Tasker (01962 824821).

Further information about the Trust and this role can be found on the Job Description and Person Specification document attached.

We are happy to talk Flexible Working - all requests for flexible working options can be discussed as part of the interview process.
