Job summary
We are looking to recruit a Band 8b Clinical Psychologist to work in an exciting new role in the beautiful New Forest. This postholder will have a key role in developing psychology provision within Older Persons Mental Health and the Stroke Service based in Lymington, working across the New Forest.
The OPMH service cover CMHTs based in the New Forest and surrounding areas, and provides care to older people with mental health problems such as anxiety, depression, personality disorder and psychosis, as well as for people with dementia and their carers. We also have an inpatient unit at Melbury Lodge in Winchester. The postholder will support the introduction and dissemination of Comprehend Cope & Connect (CCC) for those with complex psychological problems and the Newcastle Model to formulate the needs of those with organic conditions. This includes the provision and development of a neuropsychological assessment service to support the work of the Memory Assessment Service.
This post also offers an exciting opportunity to develop a new role within the Stroke Therapy Service, working for one day a week as part of our multidisciplinary stroke therapy team. The service uniquely covers 3 aspects of Stroke Rehab Provision, including Early Supported Stroke Discharge (ESD), 12 Stroke inpatient beds and the Stroke Review Service for the whole New Forest and surrounding areas. This part of the post is based on the Stroke ward at Lymington New Forest Hospital.
Main duties of the job
Within OPMH, the post-holder will take clinical leadership responsibility in the co-ordination and implementation of psychological care and ensure the systematic provision of a high quality specialist psychological therapies service for patients and their families/carers, with the emphasis on coproduction. They will support the introduction and dissemination (or the development of the care pathways) of Comprehend Cope & Connect (CCC) for those with complex psychological problems and the Newcastle Model to formulate the needs of those with organic conditions. This includes the provision and development of a neuropsychological assessment service to support the work of the Memory Assessment Service. Also to provide and develop services that meet the agreed service priorities.
For one day a week the postholder will work as an autonomous practitioner within the stroke therapy team, responsible for psychological aspects of neurological rehabilitation including specialist neuropsychological assessment and intervention, and providing advice, consultation, supervision and training for the therapy team. The postholder will work with stroke patients aged 18 and over who have complex health, social and psychological needs, as well as working with carers and families.
