Job summary
Elmleigh is an adult acute mental health hospital located in Havant. We have two single sex wards and an urgent care zone which holds our place of safety.
Our aim at Elmleigh is to have two Nurse Team Leaders working on every shift, one working clinically on the ward and the other as the supernumerary unit shift co-ordinator (USC). This post would be working within this model.

Main duties of the job
To ensure the provision of in-patient treatment.
To work alongside the inpatient management team, providing clinical insight to daily activities on the ward.
To undertake ongoing assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of the nursing care needs of patients.
Regular attendance in ward review's, MDT's, CPA's and professionals meetings.
Acting in the supernumerary role of unit shift co-ordinator to have oversight of admissions and discharges throughout the hospital alongside responsibility for the place of safety.
To mentor, supervise, teach, and role model for qualified and unqualified staff, including students.
To facilitate supervision and appraisals for a defined number of junior staff.
To lead in the clinical management of a designated group of patients.
To work proactively in accordance with the principles of social inclusion, promoting independence and recovery.
To undertake direct work with service users and their families, including formulating care plans, crisis and safety plans, and advocacy.
