Job summary
Are you an enthusiastic, innovative, and forward thinking registered health or social care professional? If so, we are looking for a highly motivated individual to join Southern Health's Leadership, Education and Development (LEAD) team as the Lead for Practice Development.
This post holds a key leadership position responsible for providing expert professional and educational knowledge for a wide-ranging and complex portfolio of education activities which relate to workforce planning initiatives and the development of the health and social care professional workforce.
This post requires an individual with experience in an education leadership role to provide operational direction and line management for the team leaders within the Professional Development workstream
In addition, the post holder will need to be flexible & adaptable as there will be a requirement to maintain appropriate clinical competencies and skills to proactively support clinical services at times of high demand and the opportunity to work clinically during the year.
The post holder will report to the Band 8B Head of Clinical and Vocational Development

Main duties of the job
The post requires a registered health or social care professional who has a passion for education and the ability to enhance the quality assurance and governance processes for education and practice development.
This post holds a key leadership position responsible for providing expert professional and educational knowledge for a wide-ranging and complex portfolio of education activities which relate to workforce planning initiatives and the development of the health and social care professional workforce with a particular focus on:
The clinical support workforce
Pre-registration health and social students
The post holder will be required to make judgements on learning and professional education that impact on the Trust's overall performance and delivery of health care including the financial appraisal of new and existing education courses and opportunities.
The role will be a key contributor to the development and maintenance of an inclusive and equitable culture and will support the delivery of the Trust's workforce plans through the provision of high-quality educational opportunities and career pathways to attract and retain our current and future workforce supply.
The post holder will need to be flexible, adaptable as there will be a requirement to maintain appropriate clinical competencies and skills to proactively support clinical services at times of high demand.
