Job summary
Are you a systemic family therapist who is interested in taking on a new challenge? The role will be working across Leigh House General Adolescent Inpatient Unit and a brand-new, innovative day programme for young people with eating disorders. At the core of this programme is a systemic approach, clinically led by a systemic family therapist.
Working with a comprehensive multidisciplinary team of clinicians, you will help to develop and deliver an inpatient and day programme for young people. Systemic family therapy is a key intervention and highly valued in the inpatient service, not only helping to support young people and families but positively contributing to the therapeutic milieu.
Systemic and multi-family therapy interventions will be central to the day programme, alongside a range of occupational therapy, nursing, creative therapy and psychologically led groups. The service will deliver evidence-based interventions to prevent the need for admission to hospital. The day programme will have strong links with community eating disorders services in CAMHS and adult services, the Closer2Home intensive home treatment service and the inpatient service.

Main duties of the job
To provide a Systemic Family Therapy service to individuals, and their families and carers, incorporating highly specialist assessment and treatment. The service may be offered within the Leigh House Day Programme, inpatient service or on a more flexible outreach basis (following a multidisciplinary risk assessment) according to clinical need.
The post-holder will ensure the systematic provision of high-quality specialist psychological assessment and intervention for young people and their families/carers, with an emphasis on co-production. The post-holder will work autonomously within professional guidelines. The post-holder will utilise research skills for audit, policy and service development and research.
The post-holder will provide a vital link between a young person's family or carers and the inpatient service and day programme. They will also provide advice and consultation on systemic issues to colleagues across the service and help other staff to understand how aspects of family functioning influence a young person. The post holder will offer Multi Family Therapy to families of young people suffering from an eating disorder. The role will involve working with colleagues to promote a systemically informed service.
The post-holder will provide supervision and management of trainee and qualified staff as required. The post holder will work within the psychological therapies team within the service and alongside a comprehensive multi-disciplinary team.
