Job summary

Consultant Anaesthetist

The trust is looking to expand its elective surgical capacity and following appointment of a new senior management team, is looking to deliver clinical services fit for the 21st century. In keeping with this vision of aspiring to deliver excellence, the trust is actively canvassing to reconfigure the current service provision, so all clinical services are on a single site, rather than the current 2 site model.

Main duties of the job

Acute care is provided at Southport and Formby District General Hospital and Ormskirk and District General Hospital. This includes adults' and children's accident and emergency services, intensive care and a range of medical and surgical specialities. Women's and children's services, including maternity, are provided at Ormskirk hospital.

  • Provision of anaesthetic services for the variety of district general surgical services for adults and children.
  • The post holder will participate in a consultant on-call rota (1 in 8) as part of a team of 2-consultants to provide out-of-hours cover for the emergency surgical list, a consultant-led obstetric unit, the critical care unit and for paediatric stabilisation.
  • To participate in the provision of anaesthesia for children above three years of age, as and when occasionally required

  • MB ChB or equivalent.
