Maintenance TechnicianPermanent Contract Full Time - 37.5 hours per week
We currently have a vacancywithin the Department of Facilities Management: Mechanically biased Maintenance Technician.
To provide technical support services for the reactive/planned specialist maintenance work on a variety of hospital plant and equipment to ensure compliance with all statutory requirements.

Main duties of the job
Applicants should have served a recognized and registered craft apprenticeship and will have gained or working towards a NVQ Level 3 or equivalent qualification in Electrical Engineering, Building Services Engineering or Mechanical Engineering and possess equivalent previous hospital maintenance experience.
The post holder would be expected to carry out maintenance duties in an efficient and effective manner to support the successful delivery of a customer focused estate maintenance service for the Trust.
Perform routine duties which may be delegated by the maintenance team leader with the minimum of supervision and have a flexible and positive approach to change.
The applicants must understand and competently work on a wide range of Building Services systems with the ability to service, test, diagnose, and repair mechanical / electrical, plant and equipment.
Applicants must have the ability to deal with new situations as they arise and pass on relevant.

Job responsibilities
The post holder will act using their own initiative where necessary as a specialist technician to provide technical support services for the routine and non-routine fault diagnosis, repair, maintenance and operation of a wide range of complex building services.
These systems are situated in a wide range of Healthcare premises across the Trusts. They will also perform a wide range of technical measurements and adjustments, inputting and manipulation of data on computer based systems, liaising as necessary with Trust Management, nursing, other support staff, and specialist contractors to ensure optimal operation of all building services, plant and equipment
knowledge to colleagues. You must also actively participate in the operation of the planned preventative maintenance scheme. You will also participate in an On-Call system to provide Out of hours cover, 7 days per week emergency repairs service and it may be necessary to work at weekends and outside normal working hours.
You will be able to demonstrate a commitment to customer service, and have a track record of developing and maintaining good working relationships at all levels in a large organisation.
Strong interpersonal and literacy skills are essential as the job will involve direct liaison with patients, public and staff at all levels of the organisation.
You should also be able prioritise work within imposed deadlines, be a team player, and possess initiative and drive.
