Job summary
- This novel
role has been developed as a new senior Trust-wide position as part of our
future priorities. The role has two core elements- educational and relational.
The educational component will focus on developing a high quality CPD programme
for general practitioners working in practices linked with our organisation
across the North East and North Yorkshire footprint. The relational component
will focus on nurturing stronger ties with local general practitioners and
networks, and to help facilitate better two-way communication between primary
and secondary care, and looking for new opportunities to collaborate. This role
has been developed as a new pillar of work under the Medical Development Team
within the Trust, deliberately so to utilise the expertise and support already
in house, especially that of medical education team which was fundamental to
the exceptionally positive feedback in recent GMC surveys.
- It is expected that the postholder will develop an annual coherent programme of mental health focussed CPDthat supports the needs of general practitioners
alongside fostering and supporting closer collaborative working and
understanding between primary care and secondary care mental health services
within the Trust.
Main duties of the job
The core responsibilities are;
- To create
a comprehensive annual CPD programme for local general practitioners that will
be of sufficient quality to support the needs of primary care colleagues within
the Trust footprint.
- To
scope the needs of local general practitioners to ensure that a proposed
programme meets their needs and is fit for purpose.
- Towork
closely with Faculty and Trust colleagues to understand the resources required
to develop a programme as well as the expertise required and whether this can be
sourced locally or external to region.
- Work
with colleagues in the Trust I.T. team to ensure the most up to date technological solutions are available to maximise attendance in person and virtually
at future events.
- To promote
understanding and collaborative working between the Trust and local general
practices and clinical networks.
- To act
as a Trust link between the North and South care groups and GP clinical
networks to enable clearer communication and understanding.
- To
lead on project work to promote quality improvements in service delivery issues
resulting from interfaces between primary and secondary care (examples may
include referral, admission and discharge issues or documentation, or issues
relating to shared care agreements.
- Ensure
external bodies / professionals used and engaged appropriately and the rules
for procurement followed.
