Job summary
This is a newly created post in Tees EIP. Tees EIP is based across four locations,
Hartlepool, Middlesbrough, Stockton and Redcar. The Team provides secondary
mental health service input for people experiencing first episode psychosis
from age 14 years and above. The team receives referrals direct from GP
surgeries via the hub teams and other sources such as Crisis team/ Liaison
Psychiatry/ wards.
The team provides specialist support to patients who maybe
experiencing their first episode of psychosis or at risk of developing a first
episode of psychosis. The teams can also assess for Autism internally and with
support from the specialist Autism teams within the trust. Our crisis teams manage the access to
inpatient services with support from the intensive home treatment services. The post holder will join a dedicated
multidisciplinary team and contribute to compassionate and evidence-based
patient care and service improvement.
The post holder is not expected to carry a personal
caseload (ie will not be a care coordinator), the work will be done in
conjunction with other team members.
Main duties of the job
The Specialty Doctor will work
as part of a multi-disciplinary team and provide clinical expertise for both
new and ongoing cases particularly issues around psychopharmacology, diagnosis,
risk assessments including liaison with the local GPs and inpatient
units.
Most outpatient work will be at
any of the four outpatient departments across the four localities. However,
there will be opportunity for home visits with the keyworker and also liaison
with the inpatient wards for formulation meetings and pre-discharge meetings.
The patients will generally be seen with their keyworker
and although the Specialty Doctor will be able to work autonomously and
independently in terms of decision making, there will be close and ready
supervision available from the Consultant Psychiatrist as well as senior SAS
doctor.
