Job summary
The Specialty Doctors will work within inpatient areas based at Roseberry Park Hospital, Middlesbrough.
The inpatient services are provided
within four acute admissions units, in a total of 64 beds distributed in four
single sex wards. There are four consultant
psychiatrist posts, one specialist psychiatrist, and two speciality doctors providing
cover for inpatients at Roseberry Park Hospital.
The inpatient services led by a team of consultant
psychiatrists will be supported by two Specialty Doctors.
There is existing additional support from one non-medical AC
trained consultant to adult services in the Roseberry Park Hospital.
The current ward arrangements are two 18 bedded units for
South Tees (Middlesbrough, and Redcar & Cleveland) areas, led by two consultant
psychiatrists, 1 Specialist Psychiatrist, a Specialty Doctor,four
Resident Doctors (two CT and two Foundation doctors), and a non-medical AC
trained nurse consultant.
There are two 14 bedded units for North of Tees areas led by 2
Consultant Psychiatrists and supported by two Specialty Doctors and 4 Resident Doctors (two core trainees and two foundation doctors).
Main duties of the job
The Specialty Doctors will provide high quality clinical
care to service users within the ambit of their Inpatient teams.
They will assess patients (inpatients)
when requested by team colleagues, formulate initial treatment plans, arrange
required investigations, seek supervision from nominated consultant
psychiatrist as required.
They will attend daily inpatient report out
in the wards, formulation meetings and discharge planning.
The Specialty Doctors will support Resident Doctors in their day-to-day
tasks and training (by assisting with work place based assessments).
Assist the Consultants with MHA
responsibilities mainly preparing Tribunal reports and attending hearings when appropriate.
