We are delighted to offer a part time (32 hours) opportunity for a Clinical Psychologist to join the Family Intervention Rapid Support Team (FIRST), here in the wonderful City of York.
FIRST is a specialist Clinical Psychology led service that supports families with children/ young people who have a learning disability and/or autism spectrum condition, alongside the most complex behavioural presentations.
FIRST provides intensive holistic assessment and intervention to meet the needs of the child and family.
FIRST is a collaborative initiative between CAMHS and Children's Social Care. The collaborative approach helps to bring together local professionals and providers in order to maximise expertise and provide wrap-around, consistent support.
FIRST aims to support children to remain at home and in their local communities, reducing the need for inpatient mental health admissions or residential school placement provision (which is often many miles away from children's families).

Main duties of the job
To provide a flexible and accessible approach to meeting the emotional wellbeing needs of vulnerable children and young people. This means appointments can take place wherever the young person feels safe, such as at home, school or college, or in another setting if this is their preference.
To enhance the capacity of those caring for and working with vulnerable children and young people on the edge of care, to do so in an attuned and psychologically informed way. It will also work therapeutically with carers and professionals, individually to support and develop their capacity to provide an attuned response and to facilitate relational safety.
Working with the child, young person, family and wider networks is central to the psychological work in the partnership. Together we work to enable a reflective/responsive, rather than a reactive approach. This service approach empowers the team around the child to facilitate confidence in reflective practice, to enable containment and consistency, and to acknowledge and understand a range of perspectives whilst remaining creative and flexible. This approach will deliver a safe, psychologically informed whole systems approach.

There is a strong psychology network across the trust and within the CAMHS directorate.
