We are recruiting aBand 6 Senior Occupational Therapist(minimum 12 months at B6) to join our new Offender Personality Disorder (OPD) "Outreach Service"at HMP Low Newton. This post complements the established OT provision within the Primrose Service (intensive day treatment service 3 years+) and offers the opportunity to deliver specialist OT assessment and intervention for women with complex clinical and relational needs linked to significant personality difficulties or diagnosed Personality Disorder and high-risk offending behaviours.
This role may be eligible for sponsorship under the UK Visas & Immigration (UKVI) Skilled Worker route. Main duties of the job
About the OPD "Outreach Service"
The service provides a whole-prison system approachfor women who:
Managed by the National Probation Service; and
Likely to meet the diagnostic criteria for 'personality disorder', to a level that has significant and severe consequences for themselves and others; and
A clinically justifiable link between the above; and
Have an existing OPD formulation in place; and
Have at least 6 months left to serve where direct work is considered.
Women's OPD "Outreach Service" Aims:
Whole System Support
- Clinical case panels with shared understanding and planning

- Training to embed relational and therapeutic approaches across the prison

- Preparation for engagement in therapeutic work

About us
Health and Justice Services provide mental health and learning disability services for those detained at HMP establishments and in the community and has been established since 2015.
The health and justice occupational therapy team is led and professionally managed by the Lead Occupational Therapist who steers the direction of the occupational therapy service, including clinical supervision of senior therapists. Whilst each occupational therapy staff member works in their relevant multidisciplinary teams, we meet regularly as a team of occupational therapy staff to offer peer support, continued professional development, clinical and service development, training and learning. The team grows as we are continuing to evidence the need for occupational therapy posts and an 'occupational lens' across the health and justice service. We are proud of our Trust-wide OT Pathway which is outlines a clear OT process including triage, assessment tools and documentation, goal-based treatment plans and robust clinical outcome measures. We have clear job plans, development frameworks, supportive supervision and learning and governance networks which allow for effective therapy delivery with our patients and reflects happy and supported staff members.

To use client-centred approaches to co-produce negotiated occupational goals and evaluate these in line with clinical outcome measures.
To offer clinical advice and support relating to occupational needs with multi-disciplinary professionals and multi-agency partners at HMP Low Newton as part of HM Prison and Probation Service.
To contribute to multi-disciplinary team working in line with the outreach service aims and operational policy including the Offender Personality Disorder (OPD) Pathway national strategy and objectives.
To use relevant electronic record systems in the prison setting including Systm One and NOMIS
To abide by all Trust policies and procedures
To be able to respond flexibly and creatively to challenges that arise within the context of a prison setting.
To be clinically supervised and professionally managed by the Lead Occupational Therapist for Health and Justice.
Due to the nature of this role, the successful candidate must pass Police Vetting before commencing employment.
