Job summary

A rare opportunity has come up for a band 5 occupational therapist to join the MHSOP community team covering Middlesbrough.

Main duties of the job

You will work between the functional and organic teams within the service. Our organic team supports those in the Middlesbrough area who are seeking assessment for dementia. Whilst our functional team have oversight of patients within the area who may require support and intervention from a secondary mental health service where they may also have a physical frailty.

  • Appropriate professional qualification in occupational therapy role (or pending)
  • Current relevant registration with HCPC (or pending)
  • International English Language Testing System (IELTS) level 7 for international recruits

Desirable

  • Post graduate training in relevant specialist area

Experience

Essential

  • Experience of working in a variety of practice areas whilst on student placements (or postgraduate)

Desirable

  • Experience of supporting people with mental health issues, learning disability or autism
  • Experience of working in Multidisciplinary Team

Knowledge

Essential

  • Awareness of professional standards and their application to practice
  • Understanding of the needs of service users with mental health conditions and/or learning disabilities

Desirable

  • Knowledge of evidence- based practice in designated specialist area
  • Clinical risk assessment and application in practice

Skills

  • Record keeping and report writing.
