Job summary

This vacancy is open to Band 5 Registered Nurses with a minimum of 12 months post qualification experience and successful completion of preceptorship. This is a developmental post with progression to a Band 6 upon meeting the criteria within the Band 6 job description and competency framework specific to Health & Justice Services.

HMP Millsike are looking for a Mental Health Nurses / Clinical Leads to provide mental health care to patients. This role will be responsible for assessment and caseload management of those referred into Mental health services within HMP Millsike, working as part of a stepped care model. You will be supporting your team to carry out comprehensive assessments, confidently communicating treatment options and initiating supportive care plans, and providing evidence-based interventions alongside the wider multi-disciplinary team.

Main duties of the job

Candidates will work across urgent and planned services in order to develop knowledge, skills and experience. We are looking for clinicians who will thrive working in a busy environment amongst a wider well resourced team of multidisciplinary professionals, as well as alongside partner providers from a variety of internal and external services.

Tees Esk and Wear Valleys NHS Foundation Trust were recently awarded the Mental Health Service contract to begin delivering services in April 2025.

  • Current professional registration with an approved professional body.
  • Evidence of Continuing Professional Development.
  • For registered nurses: MIP, FLIP, ENB 998 Teaching & Assessing in Clinical Practice or City & Guilds 730 Teaching in Adult Education or willingness to work towards. Qualification must be achieved within agreed timescale.
  • Trained Clinical Supervisor (within agreed timescale).
  • Key skills in literacy, numeracy and ITQ level 2 (or equivalent)
