Job summary

We are seeking to recruit an enthusiastic and experienced Clinical Specialist into the Scarborough, Whitby and Ryedale Crisis and Home Treatment Team for a 6-month secondment.

Candidate must hold registration with relevant professional body (eg. NMC, GMC, HCPC, Social Work-England).

The successful applicant will have the opportunity to become part of a specialised multi-disciplinary team comprising of Consultant Psychiatrists, Nurses, Social Workers and Clinical Psychologists who provide a responsive assessment and home treatment service to those experiencing an acute mental health crisis in the community.

Applicants must ensure that prior to applying they have agreement from their current line manager that they can be released on a secondment basis. In the event that permanent funding is secured for this post the successful applicant will be confirmed in post on a permanent basis.

Main duties of the job

The successful applicant will be responsible for delivering a high standard of clinical leadership to the team; ensuring clinical standards are maintained in the delivery of care across all aspects of the service. The nature of this work requires a calm, consistent approach to some challenging clinical situations alongside a willingness to be compassionate, creative and flexible in delivering clinical care.

The successful applicant will be required to contribute to and lead ongoing service development and offer clinical supervision to staff members. The ability to make balanced decisions and use positive risk-taking approaches, whilst managing potentially high-pressured situations is an essential part of this role.

Acting as a resource in providing specialist advice, training, guidance and consultation to the team and partner agencies is also an integral aspect of the role. The applicant will be an essential member of the multi-disciplinary team and will be able to facilitate the co-coordination of care on a multi-disciplinary basis to the patients under our care.

Essential

  • For nursing professions - Recognised Practice Supervisor and /or Practice Assessor, clinical educator or equivalent andTrained in providing clinical supervision
  • Trained in providing clinical supervision
  • For other professions - evidence of training in clinical supervision of other staff and able to demonstrate competence in this area of practice in clinical supervision of other staff and/or students/ trainees.
  • All professions - Postgraduate diploma (or above) in a subject relevant to the area of practice or be willing to work towards and achieve within 2 years..
  • A recognised advanced clinical qualification or Masters level credits e.g., Intermediate Systemic Family Therapy/Post Grad diploma in CBT/British Isles Dialectical Behaviour Therapy /NMP e.g. dysphagia, posture, autism assessment, rebound, social prescribing, sensory processing, Approved Mental Health Professional, Practice Educator (level 3 Independent Prescriber) * Note any other advanced qualification/masters credits not listed here as an example, must be clearly evidenced and listed as "advanced qualification or masters credits" - within the individuals application form
  • Substantial clinical experience of working in relevant specialist area in collaboration with service users, families and relevant others or transferable experience of similar settings and willing to gain knowledge within first 12 months.
