Our service is undergoing dynamic and exciting service changes in order to improve access for children and young people to CAMHS. The service also aspires to promote patient centred and needs led journeys through the CAMHS service and is looking for professionals to join us to make this a positive experience. Durham & Darlington Getting Help Team (GHT) CAMHS are looking for enthusiastic, dynamic and motivated CAMHS Clinicians to work as part of a fast paced, highly acclaimed multi-disciplinary team. We carry out online, telephone and face-to-face evidence-based assessments and interventions across Durham and Darlington for children & young people.

You will join the service at a time where a real difference can be made to children and young people's lives. You will be expected to have the necessary skills and experience to undertake comprehensive mental health assessments with children and families. Candidates should be skilled professionals with excellent interdisciplinary working skills and interested in contributing to the development of an innovative service.

Main duties of the job

Assessment and interventions for children and young people alongside their families and other professionals involved, to identify the best support for them in a time of mental health difficulty. Working with partner agencies to identify external support as well as internal CAMHS pathways.

Assessments are carried out across our four CAMHS bases, Darlington, Easington, South Durham and North Durham. Travel time and mileage expenses are covered where home to base distance is exceeded.

Candidates must have 18 months post qualifying experience including sign off of appropriate preceptorship or competency framework.

The successful candidate would be required to work 22.5 hours within the CAMHS Getting Help Team, at one of four CAMHS localities, working as part of a multidisciplinary team offering assessment and treatment for children and young people with mild to moderate mental health needs.

For the remaining 15 hours the successful candidate would be required to autonomously work within GP practices in the Derwentside Primary Care Network. For this role the successful candidate would be expected to undertake comprehensive initial assessments of referred or self-referred patients, including those with complex needs and uses clinical judgement and analysis to sign post to appropriate services or to retain on their caseload for time-limited therapy / interventions.

Qualification

Essential

  • Current professional registration with appropriate body in healthcare or social work.
  • Evidence of continuing professional development
  • Post-graduate qualification in a relevant area (or work towards, within agreed timescale)
  • 18 months post qualifying experience including sign off of appropriate preceptorship or competency framework.
  • Depending on work area, recognised sign-off mentor (or equivalent) or must be achieved within agreed timescale.
  • Key skills in literacy, numeracy and ITQ level 2 (or equivalent)

Desirable

  • Leadership or management qualification.
  • CAMHS Degree
  • Certificate in teaching & assessing in clinical practice as appropriate to own profession.
  • Recognised qualification in a specific model of therapy e.g. family therapy, CBT etc.
