Job summary
The successful applicant will be a Higher Assistant Psychologist (HAP) and will join the multi-disciplinary Scarborough, Whitby & Ryedale Community CAMHS Team.
This is a 12 month fixed term/secondment opportunity and you will need to have agreement from your current line manager that you can be released on a secondment basis if you wish secondment to be considered.
The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate a good knowledge of the mental health difficulties experienced by children and young people, and have an understanding of the therapies and other interventions used in treatment. Knowledge and understanding of common Neurodevelopmental conditions such as ASC and ADHD, and how these are assessed and treated, would be an advantage; as is the ability to recognise and manage common physical health complications experienced by children and young people experiencing Mental Health and Neurodevelopmental difficulties.
The successful applicant will be involved in continuous service development, and will work closely with external and internal partners to review, improve, and deliver services to the community. There is also a requirement to maintain high standards of personal and professional development.
Due to the nature of the role it is essential that applicants are able to travel independently across the locality and have access to a suitable vehicle for business purposes. If necessary, adjustments can be considered in accordance with the Equality Act 2010.
Main duties of the job
The successful candidate will work as part of the Multidisciplinary Team, and will also be required to liaise with internal and external stakeholders including CAMHS Crisis Team, Schools / Education Providers, the Local Authority, GP's and specialist services. They will support the provision of psychologically informed interventions, working to make reasonable adjustments for the needs of this client group. They will also support the collaborative development of formulations both directly with the clients and with the wider team.
Knowledge and experience of working with children and young people with complex mental health issues is essential.
There is a strong focus on professional development and the service offers training to support the delivery of evidence-based interventions. The successful candidate will contribute to service development to support the enhancement of psychologically informed interventions within the team. There is a supportive team culture and the team shares knowledge and skills to ensure we provide a high quality service.
