Job summary

An exciting and rewarding opportunity has arisen, for a band 6 senior LD nurse working within an established MDT which includes Nursing, Psychiatry, Psychology, Physiotherapy, Occupational Therapy, Speech and Language Therapy and admin staff.

The team work collectively and collaboratively with others to ensure ahigh standard of care is provided and are always willing to go above and beyond what is expected when required, andto ensure people with a diagnosed learning disability and their families and carer are supported by delivering high quality clinical care.

The service is currently 9 to 5 Monday to Friday.

The post holder will work as part of the Multi-Disciplinary Community Learning Disability Team, work towards addressing and supporting theneeds of adults with a learning disability who have complex physical and emotional health needs.

The team cover a wide geographical area which includes Harrogate, Ripon and a large rural community. We work within the client's home, supported living services and wide range of community facilities.

Main duties of the job

The successful candidate will need to have a genuine desire to improve the mental health and well-being of adults with learning disability and behaviours that challenge. They will work as part of a MDT delivering high quality secondary care and enhancing the community services, working with individuals who require specialist interventions using trauma informed care & a recovery-based approach.

The successful candidate must be motivated, flexible, able to communicate effectively, will be expected to be able to travel independently to various locations within the Truston a regular basis.

About us

The successful candidate will:

  • Hold a complex caseload, completing assessments, delivering treatment and interventions, monitoring and evaluating outcomes, implementing Clinical Care Pathways.
  • Provide clinical supervision, support, advice and guidance to junior members of staff, students, colleagues and others.
  • Maintain good communication, documentation, providing reports and information within agreed timescales.
  • To adhere to legal frameworks/ policies and procedures e.g. Safeguarding, Mental Capacity Act and Mental Health Act
  • Maintain their NMC Registration/ PIN ensuring the compliance with the NMC Code/ revalidation.

The Harrogate and District ALD team provides services across a large rural and urban area, and is based in Knaresborough.   • Evidence of Continuing Professional Development.
  • Recognised Practice Supervisor and/or Practice Assessor, clinical educator or equivalent. Must be achieved within 6 months
  • Trained in Clinical Supervision and providing clinical supervision OR willingness to work towards within 6 month
  • 18 months post qualifying experience including sign off of appropriate preceptorship or competency framework)
  • Working collaboratively with service users and their families/carers
  • Providing clinical supervision to individuals or groups as professionally appropriate.
  • Supervising or assessing students on practice placement.
