Job summary

The Durham and Darlington CAMHS Eating Disorder Team are looking for an experienced, enthusiastic and confident candidate to take the exciting opportunity of becoming a Clinical Nurse Specialist within our diverse and friendly team!

The Clinical Nurse Specialist will have responsibility for providing clinical leadership to colleagues and co-ordination of the assessment, treatment and management of children and young people accessing the Specialist CAMHS Eating Disorder Team. The Clinical Nurse Specialist will offer advice and consultation regarding the management of the client group to colleagues within other CAMHS Teams and to colleagues in other agencies as necessary.

We operate across 2 main sites - Acley Centre, Newton Aycliffe and North End House, Durham. The successful candidate will be expected to work across the two providing support across the Durham and Darlington area.

Main duties of the job

The successful applicant will be responsible for delivering a high standard of clinical leadership to the team; ensuring clinical standards are maintained in the delivery of care across all aspects of the service. The nature of this work requires a calm, consistent approach to some challenging clinical situations. There is a requirement to contribute and lead ongoing service development and offer clinical supervision to staff.

You will have experience working in community CAMHS Eating Disorders Service and/or have knowledge of treatment and management of eating disorders in young people. You will also have an understanding of relevant legislation, knowledge of Safeguarding and Clinical Risk Assessment, Management and its application in practice. The ability to make balanced decisions and use positive risk taking approaches, whilst managing potentially high pressure situations. You will undertake needs led, evidence based assessments and therapeutic interventions with children and young people. There is also an element of physical health monitoring within the service which include venepuncture and physical health observations. As part of your role you will be expected to provide leadership to the team and contribute to service development.

The successful candidate will also be part of the development of our Eating Disorder Intensive Home Treatment/outreach intervention.

Qualifications

Essential

  • Current Professional Registration with Nursing and Midwifery Council - RMN / RNLD/ RGN (RNSC - CAMHS Only)
  • Recognised Practice Assessor/Practice Supervisor or currently in progress of achieving.
  • Trained in Clinical Supervision and providing Clinical Supervision or in the process of achieving
  • Postgraduate diploma in a subject relevant to the area and
  • Within the first year of being in post hold a recognised qualification in a governed therapy/advanced clinical qualification e.g Intermediate Systemic Family Therapy/Post Grad diploma in CBT/British Isles Dialectical Behaviour Therapy /NMP (level 3 Independent Prescriber)
  • And have Equivalent clinical experience to that of a Post Grad Diploma/master's level such as working as a band 6 (or above) in relevant clinical area with significant experience (see below under experience), together with evidence of relevant CPD
  • Significant experience working with patients with complex needs in the specialist field.
  • Significant experience working with patients who display risk behaviours
