Job summary

We are pleased to announce an exciting opportunity to work as a Mental Health Services for Older People (MHSOP) Clinical Specialist Dietitian within the North Yorkshire and York locality, working alongside our MHSOP Lead Dietitian. The clinical aspect of this role is mainly inpatient work, providing dietetic input to patients with a variety of conditions from functional diagnoses such as depression and psychosis to organic diagnoses such as vascular dementia and Alzheimer's dementia.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will be a Registered Dietitian with substantial clinical experience of complex dietetics delivery for those with mental health conditions, learning disabilities and/or autism and have a keen interest in development and knowledge of the national drivers eg NICE guidance for older people including physical health care and nutrition support. As a Clinical Specialist, the post holder will be required to participate in service development, audit, research activities, pathway development, ongoing training of the clinical teams they work into and facilitate student training.

About us

Our Dietetic Team is the largest and most established Specialist Mental Health and Learning Disability dietetic team in the UK and has strong links with the British Dietetic Association. Our Dietitians work into Adult Eating disorders, Adult Mental Health, Children and Adolescent Mental Health, Learning Disabilities and Secure Inpatient Services. We are supported by our Professional Head of Dietetics and have a large group of highly skilled Clinical Specialist and Lead Dietitians.

We have regular speciality team meetings to develop skills and provide peer support and can provide training and support to engage with the complex needs of the patient group. We have a robust clinical and management supervision structure and support continued professional training and development.

  • Registration with HCPC
