Job summary
The Associate Nurse Consultant will be an experienced practitioner who is able to demonstrate a very high degree of personal and professional skill in the care of Children and young people with complex mental health conditions. This is a fixed term post to cover Maternity cover.
The South Durham Getting More Help CAMHS team is based in the Ackley centre in Newton Aycliffe, however this post is split between South Durham and Darlington.
They provide mental health assessment, treatment and care planning to Children and Young People with complex mental health needs. The Getting help teams work closely with the other Trust CAMHS teams and their local partners. The post holder will be a Non Medical prescriber.
Main duties of the job
The Associate Nurse Consultant will be an experienced practitioner who is able to demonstrate a very high degree of personal and professional skill in the care of Children and Young People with complex mental health difficulties and their families.
To promote at all times a positive image of Children and Young Peoples Mental health needs.
To promote at all times a positive image of the Children and Young peoples Mental Health Community Services and the wider Trust.
Working with the senior clinical leadership and management team, to ensure that the service operates in a recovery focused way, enabling Children and young people to achieve their recovery goals.
The post holder will be an independent prescriber and will initiate, alter and stop medication related to mental health as determined by assessment and diagnosis and interpret and adapt NICE guidelines and clinical pathways where these exist
The post holder will deliver mental health assessment, diagnostic andappropriate interventions in line with NICE guidance
The post holder will be required to work independently and autonomously and be accountable for his or her own area of practice.

- Relevant Post-basic clinical qualification(s) with a professional portfolio supporting this
- Independent and Supplementary Nurse Prescribing Course Certificate
- Masters level qualification
- AC/RC status or willingness toward within 12 months of appointment

- Relevant teaching qualification

- Post registered experience in a senior nurse position
- Specific, recent experience within a senior capacity within CAMHS
- Change Management experience
- Substantial post registration experience in a clinical nurse specialisation and/or senior nursing position to include significant leadership functions

- Currently engaged in significant clinical work with people with a complex mental illness at an advanced level of practice and can demonstrate a high level of professional autonomy
