An exciting opportunity has arisen for a competent, confident, and enthusiastic part time Band 6 Specialist Occupational Therapist to join the Hambleton & Richmondshire Community Learning Disability Team based at North Moor House, Northallerton North Yorkshire working with people with a learning disability, predominantly in a community setting. The post holder will work directly with adults with learning disabilities and all those who support them, including families, carers and external service providers in our geographical area
As a Specialist Occupational Therapist in TEWV you will manage a complex specialist occupational therapy caseload from assessment to discharge assessing occupational performance and delivering specialist occupational interventions.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will be responsible for managing a specialist OT caseload, service users may have multiple needs with a combination of physical and mental health issues in addition to a learning disability .
The clinician will be responsible for completing evidence-based assessments and providing therapy and interventions to address key areas of need in addition to supporting service users to achieve occupational therapy goals .Occupational therapy will be provided as a deliverable intervention which aims to support users in personally meaningful recovery of ordinary lives and daily occupation/s.
To use client-centred approaches to co-produce negotiated occupational goals and evaluate these with service users collaboratively.
To participate in clinical/professional and management supervision
To contribute to multi-disciplinary team working and provide professional advice as appropriate to the immediate MDT and other healthcare professionals with limited learning disability experience
To contribute to and lead on service improvement and quality initiatives
To use the Trust electronic patient record system
To abide by all Trust policies and procedures
To be able to respond flexibly and creatively to challenges

About us
The Hambleton and Richmondshire CLDT is part of the wider NYY&S learning disability service with other CLDT's based in York, Harrogate and Scarborough
The multi-disciplinary team works with adults with a learning disability and complex health needs and their families/carers to deliver assessment and treatment of complex health needs
The occupational therapist will work as part of a multi-disciplinary team committed to collaborative working, and focusing on the provision of high quality evidence based services to individuals or groups.
The post will be offered varied opportunities for training and development, with CPD needs being identified and monitored through appraisal. Well defined supervision systems are in place.
You will access wider support from the occupational therapy network in TEWV, to develop a way of delivering a high quality, needs-led OT service, utilising core occupational therapy skills to ensure all of the people we work with have a robust occupational therapy assessment and intervention plan.
