Job summary

We are seeking a psychology graduate ideally with previous experience as an assistant psychologist to work within the Health & Justice Service. The post 10 months fixed term to cover maternity leave in HMP Frankland.

HMP Frankland is a high secure prison holding Category A High Risk and Category B adult males.

There may also be a opportunity/expectation to work into other North East prison as per service need and demand.

Main duties of the job

The successful applicant will be Higher Assistant Psychologist (HAP) and will join multidisciplinary health team, working alongside members of prison operational staff. Tasks will include, although not exhaustive of, psychological assessment, psychometric scoring and interpretation, facilitation of small treatment-focused groups, individual intervention, audit, staff training and report writing. Experience of delivering evidenced based therapies, i.e. CBT and DBT either individually or within a group setting would be desirable. The successful post-holder will have good communication and interpersonal skills, and preferably will have some experience of risk management in prison or forensic settings.
