Job summary
The Research & Development department have a fixed term or secondment opportunity for a full time motivated and interested Band 5 Research Assistant to support the delivery of research studies within the Trust. The R&D Department is an integral part of the Trust's services using high quality research evidence to improve the quality and value of care.
The post-holder will work on an exciting new grant-funded research study which aims to develop and evaluate a new intervention to improve sleep quality for adults in a psychiatric inpatient setting.
Main duties of the job
The successful applicant will be a researcher with a primary clinically-related degree. Candidates will have experience of recruiting participants to a research study and working with people with dementia and/or mental health problems. Candidates must also have excellent interpersonal, oral, organisational and written communication skills.
This post would be particularly suitable for someone seeking a career in clinical research. Strong support for personal and professional development will be available, including clinical supervision.
About us
The successful applicants will work closely with the trial manager, Chief Investigator and the Trust's R&D department staff. They will also liaise with professionals working in clinics and other NHS services to recruit participants and facilitate the workings of the trial. The researcher will be based at either Foss Park Hospital, York or Flatts Centre, Middlesbrough but will need to work and liaise with sites across the whole of the Trust. Willingness and ability to travel is therefore a necessary part of this role.
