Job summary

We are looking to recruit a Band 7 Team Manager within our Adult Learning Disability Respite, Day, and Residential services. This is a permanent position with the expectation of Monday to Friday 9-5 working hours, however they may be occasional shift work which would cover a 24/7 pattern.

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced, resilient, and dynamic individual to oversee the Residential provision at Thornaby Road. The post offers the successful candidate the opportunity to manage a staff team by leading the day-to-day operational management duties to ensure high quality effective care is delivered to those residents that live within that service. The successful candidate would not only be the team manager of the service but be the registered manager under social care registrations.

We wish to recruit a highly motivated, flexible, and enthusiastic individual who has the confidence and drive to lead the staff team to make a real difference to the lives of people with learning disabilities.

Applicants will need to have excellent clinical knowledge and leadership qualities with the ability to influence others, as well as have excellent communication skills and the ability to network and build relationships.

Management and leadership experience is essential, and previous experience of working with individuals with Profound and Multiple Learning Disabilities, Autism and Behaviours that challenge would be welcomed.

Main duties of the job

Work with the RDR leadership team and Multi-disciplinary team utilising collective leadership strategies to improve the lives of people with learning disabilities by minimising the impact of their condition through effective leadership and management and delivery of excellent services to promote recovery and wellbeing for all service users.

Responsible for the operational management of the residential service, and work positively and collaboratively in partnership with all stakeholders whilst being professionally accountable and responsible for the delivery of the clinical service.

Responsible for the line management of all team members including appraisals, personal development planning and training, management of sickness absence, formal disciplinary and grievance matters, performance management, recruitment and selection decisions and high-level planning and prioritising of departmental workload.

Lead practice development and service development initiatives to ensure continual quality improvement across the services.

  • Current professional registration with NMC (RMN/RNMH/RNLD/RNA)
  • Be educated to Master's level in a subject area relevant to the area of practice OR
  • Have equivalent clinical experience to that of master's level such as working as a band 6 (or above) in relevant clinical area with significant experience - which also includes significant experience of managing people. (see below under experience), together with evidence of relevant CPD
  • Be a Recognised Practice Assessor/Practice Supervisor
  • Be trained in Clinical Supervision and providing clinical supervision

Knowledge
