This is an exciting opportunity to join the Mental Health Team in HMP Northumberland.
HMP Northumberland is a category C prison housing sentenced adult males.
The mental health team work across all aspects of the prison, working closely with wider healthcare colleagues and partner organisations within and outside of the prison.
Main duties of the job
To join our leadership team, we are looking for an experienced Manager who will provide operational leadership to the team, working collaboratively with partners and and patients to deliver excellent care within a complex and specialist environment.
The team is made up of a range of different professionals and specialties, supported by a leadership focused on embedding the ethos of clinically led and operationally enabled.
The Team Manager is responsible day to day operational oversight of the team, including line management responsibilities of appraisals, personal development planning, training, management of sickness absence, HR processes, performance management, recruitment and selection decisions and high level planning and prioritising of departmental workload.

- Current professional registration with appropriate body in healthcare or social work
- Clinical Supervisor
- Leadership or management qualification or willingness to work towards. Qualification must be achieved within agreed timescale
- Evidence of Continuing Professional Development.
- Certificate in teaching & assessing in Clinical Practice as appropriate to own profession.
- Recognised sign-off mentor or equivalent for students (within agreed timescale).
- Quality Improvement Systems for Leaders or willing to undertake within agreed timescale
- Key skills in literacy, numeracy and ITQ level 2 (or equivalent)
Desirable
- Post-graduate diploma in a relevant area

- Significant experience working with people with complex mental ill health or learning disabilities in a community setting.
