Job summary

CMHT's form the mainstay of patient care in secondary mental health services.South CMHT AMH is one of four CMHT's in York; it is a small and friendly team, working from an office space in Selby. We cover the geographical location including Tadcaster, Pocklington, Selby and Sherburn in Elmet.Parking is free and easy.

You will be required to be registered with the Health and Care Professions Council as a Practitioner Psychologist. The Trust is committed to providing support and supervision for continuing professional development and we have an excellent track record for developing our psychology workforce.

You would join a well-established and growing staff group of psychologists and therapists working within York and Selby with strong alliances across North Yorkshire.

There are four CMHTs in York and Selby in addition to other specialist teams. Each CMHT has a band 8a clinical psychologist, a band 7 psychologists/psychological therapist and some teams also have an assistant psychologist.

Main duties of the job

Trustwide psychology and therapy has a strong position in the organisation with a Director of Therapies being a senior role and each locality also having a Professional Lead to oversee governance and support development of psychology and governed psychological therapy.

The key roles for the post will include; direct work with clients, support with the education of staff. In addition you will participate in team meetings and take an active role in supporting governance of the team.

Applicants need to be motivated, enthusiastic, flexible and resilient. You will need at least 3 years post qualification experience. Knowledge and experience of working with people with complex mental health issues is essential.

Team work is an important element of the job. You will need to demonstrate working effectively in a team and offering leadership and supervision to other professionals.

We provide excellent opportunities for peer support/supervision, CPD, teaching/training, and research and audit in line with strategic developments. There are also strong links to the local Hull and Teesside D Clin Psy Programme as well as the York St. Johns Doctorate in Counselling Psychology as we are key providers of academic and clinical experience components both in terms of teaching and supervision.
