Job summary
In the role of Trainee High Intensity Therapist with Durham and Darlington Talking Therapies, you will work within the County Durham and Darlington locality, delivering psychological therapies both face to face and remotely.
You will be expected to attend University teaching each week alongside working in service. During your time in service, you will be delivering treatment appointments and engaging in regular Clinical Supervision.
You will attend Teesside University to undertake an 18 month Post Grad CBT qualification.
On completion of the programme, you will be eligible to apply for accreditation with the British Association for Behavioural and Cognitive Psychotherapies (BABCP).
We accept applications from non-core professionals as long as they can evidence 14 of the knowledge skills and attitudes criteria outlined on the BABCP website. If they are invited for interview, they must present this at this stage of the process and have it completed by the time the course starts.
You must be able to demonstrate the ability to work within a high volume, performance managed service, manage your own caseload and time and be an effective communicator both in written and verbal communication
This is a training contract and therefore subject to you successfully completing the course.
You may be required to work up until 8pm three evening per week depending on service need. Standard working applies - Mon - Fri, 37.5 hours per week.

- Engaging in self directed study
- Offering CBT based interventions to patients presenting with common mental health difficulties
About us
NHS Durham & Darlington Talking Therapies is a well-established Improving access to psychological therapies (IAPT) service and has been providing psychological interventions to those residing in the County Durham and Darlington area since 2010. We are a joint venture of three experienced local and national providers of psychological therapies with a strong track record of success. It is led by Tees, Esk and Wear Valleys NHS Foundation Trust in collaboration with Mental Health Matters (MHM) and Sunderland Counselling Service (SCS).
The service has continued to develop new and innovative ways of supporting those patients presenting with common mental health difficulties, forming strong links with other supporting services in the area
