An exciting opportunity has arisen for enthusiastic and highly motivated Registered Mental Health Nurses within the Tees, Esk & Wear Valleys Older Persons Mental Health Inpatient service.
This post is only open to those candidates who already have their NMC registration in place and have successfully completed the preceptorship programme. Please note: Newly qualified applicants or those due to qualify will be recruited via a separate process.
Main duties of the job
This post is for an opportunity to work on Westerdale South which is a male and female organic ward. As a Staff Nurse you will be encouraged to become involved in the large multi-disciplinary team approach striving towards excellent patient care. You will be involved in all aspects of the patient journey from holistic assessment, treatment and discharge planning to ensure that on discharge individual needs are met in various levels of care.
Westerdale South is a 14 bed organic ward which is a mixed sex unit we work on a zonal model of care which supports to eliminate risk and ensures that regular engagement. We are a multi-disciplinary team and work proactively to support those in our care.
Our ward is fully equipped with appropriate activity and therapeutic space to enable patients to engage in meaningful and therapeutic activity, promoting wellbeing and a sense of occupation and achievement.

We will support you by offering regular supervision, training opportunities and encourage your development and role within this developing team on the delivery of Patient Centred Care, support for carers and evidence based practice.

Qualifications
Essential
- RNMH, current professional registration with NMC.
- Evidence of Continuing Professional Development.
- MIP, FLIP, ENB 998 Teaching & Assessing in Clinical Practice or City & Guilds 730 Teaching in Adult Education or willingness to work towards. Qualification must be achieved within agreed timescale.
- Trained Clinical Supervisor (within agreed timescale).
- Key skills in literacy, numeracy and ITQ level 2 (or equivalent)
Desirable
- Post-graduate qualification in a relevant area
Experience

- Working with people with mental ill health.
