Job summary

Tees, Esk & Wear NHS Foundation Trust have an exciting opportunity for a senior Psychological Professional to contribute to the clinical and strategic development of the working age adult mental health service we provide to our communities in North Yorkshire.

This post is open to applicants who are either an Applied Psychologist or a Psychological Therapist (see below for further details).

The post covers North Yorkshire locality which includes the areas of Harrogate, Richmondshire, Hambleton, Scarborough, Whitby and Ryedale. The work base is flexible within the geographical footprint and will be agreed with the successful applicant.

The roles comprise 0.6 wte clinical leadership and 0.4 wte clinical delivery role in an Adult Mental Health service. A part time role of 0.6 wte clinical leadership and 0.2 clinical role would be considered.

Main duties of the job

The Psychological Professions Lead role has two primary related roles: the professional leadership and development of the Psychological Professions workforce and contribution to multidisciplinary collective leadership at the service management level.With the premise that decision making is devolved, and that leadership is there to cultivate the talents of those within the Care Group, to optimise the quality of care and to ensure that the strategy of the Trust is delivered.

They will be responsible for supporting the Associate Director of Therapies and General Manager with the delivery of the trust strategy and the business plan, supporting service transformation and service delivery to achieve quality standards and embedding co-production with service users and carers.

They will lead and contribute to Adult Mental Health care group and trustwide service transformation, working with the collective leadership team, Clinical Networks and corporate colleagues to embed key aspects of the transformation agenda, the Long Term Plan and partnership priorities and represent the professions on strategic groups as appropriate.

The Psychological Professions Lead will be accountable for their own professional practice in the delivery of highly specialist care to clients with severe and enduring mental health conditions, learning disabilities or autism.

Qualifications

Essential

  • Post-graduate training (doctoral level equivalent) in clinical / counselling / forensic psychology (or its equivalent prior to 1996) as accredited by the BPS and HCPC registration as a Practitioner Psychologist
  • Post-doctoral training in one or more additional specialised areas of psychological practice
  • Trained in clinical supervision and the supervision of doctoral trainee psychologists
  • Trained in coordinating complex packages of care and assessing and managing risk
  • Evidence of continuing professional development
  • RMN/RNLD, AHP or Social work core qualification o Masters Qualification AND Registration with a professional regulatory body (HCPC, GMC, NMC or Social Work England). (If a different regulatory body please seek advice from Head of Psychological Professions) AND For Psychological therapists: a qualification that provides eligibility for accreditation in one of the four Governed Psychological Therapies
