Job summary
The North Yorkshire and York CAMHS Eating Disorder Service is looking for a Band 6 CAMHS (Child & Adolescent Mental Health Services) Practitioner to join the team as part of our newly developed Eating Disorders Home Treatment Team. The applicant must hold a professional registration in healthcare or social work.
This is an exciting opportunity to join a newly formed enhanced part of our service, supporting families and young people with meal times in the community. The Community Eating Disorder Service for children and young people is an established supportive team that offers assessment and a wide variety of evidence based treatment for young people and families.
The North Yorkshire and York Community Eating Disorder Service is a locality wide team, with main bases in Orca House, York and Dragon Parade Clinic, Harrogate, with additional outreach into North Moor House, Northallerton and Lake House, Scarborough. The successful post holder will be expected to travel within the locality to family homes, clinic bases and paediatric settings depending on demand - travel expenses and time will be included, full, clean driving licence will be required with access to a vehicle.
The successful post holder will be required to work flexibly, including evenings and weekends, excluding nights.
Main duties of the job
The main elements of the clinical work will include supporting young people and families during meal times in a variety of settings using an evidence based model and care pathway, developing and facilitating group work interventions, alongside opportunities to evaluate the effectiveness of the interventions provided.
The successful candidate will be responsible for supervision and supporting more junior members of the Eating Disorders Home Treatment team and have oversight of the operational running of the service.
The eating disorder community team includes clinical psychologists, family therapists, nurses, dietitians, psychiatrists and social workers. Therefore, the ability to work effectively within a multi-disciplinary team is a requirement.
Due to the nature of the role it is essential that applicants are able to travel independently across the locality and have access to a suitable vehicle for business purposes. If necessary, adjustments can be considered in accordance with the Equality Act 2010.

- Key skills in literacy, numeracy and ITQ level 2 (or equivalent)
- Post-graduate qualification in a relevant area (within agreed timescale)
- Depending on work area, recognised sign-off mentor (or equivalent) or must be achieved within agreed timescale
Desirable
- Leadership or management qualification
- CAMHS Degree
- Certificate in teaching & assessing in clinical practice as appropriate to own profession.
- Recognised qualification in a specific model of therapy e.g. family therapy, CBT etc.
