Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join an established Night Co-ordination team within Secure Inpatient Services.

You will be required to be; innovative, flexible and able to engage clients with complex needs. Strong leadership working principles are essential as you will undertake point of contact as the senior staff member throughout the night.

This is a opportunity to develop problem solving skills and staffing co-ordination whilst also delivering clinical and operational support.

Applicants must ensure that prior to applying they have agreement from their current line manager that they can be released on a secondment basis.

In the event that permanent funding is secured for this post the successful applicant will be confirmed in post on a permanent basis.

Main duties of the job

The Secure Inpatient Service within the forensic Directorate seeking an experienced Registered Mental Health or Registered Learning Disability Nurse to join our existing team whose role is to support the co-ordination of staffing and clinical care provided by the inpatient nursing teams across the service, specifically at night.

The post holder will be required to have previous experience of Mental Health or Learning Disability Forensic Secure Services and be able to work independently and flexibly across the site fulfilling a wide range of nursing roles including visible leadership, promoting recovery, staff support and guidance, seclusion reviews as well as staff deployment and resource utilisation throughout the night time period.

  • RNMH/RNLD, current professional registration with NMC.
  • Evidence of Continuing Professional Development.
  • MIP, FLIP, ENB 998 Teaching & Assessing in Clinical Practice or City & Guilds 730 Teaching in Adult Education.
  • Recognised sign-off mentor or willingness to work towards. Must be achieved within agreed timescale.
  • Key skills in literacy, numeracy and ITQ level 2 (or equivalent)

Desirable

  • Post-graduate qualification in a relevant area
  • Leadership or management qualification

Experience

  • Extensive experience at a Band 5 or Band 6
