Job summary

North Tees and Hartlepool NHS Foundation Trust and South Tees NHS Foundation Trust and are working in partnership to provide a comprehensive Point of Care Testing service to their users. An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Band 2 Support Worker to join the Point ofCare Testing team.

North Tees & Hartlepool NHS Foundation Trust is comprised of two sites; The University Hospitals of North Tees, Stockton-on-Tees, and University Hospital Hartlepool. South Tees NHS Foundation Trust is also comprised of two sites; The James Cook University Hospital, Middlesbrough and the Friarage Hospital, Northallerton. The candidate will be expected to work across both Trusts and sites, in addition to smaller units within the community and primary care.

Main duties of the job

The department manages a wide variety of equipment including the Roche Cobas b123 Blood Gas analyser, Radiometer ABL90 Flex Plus Blood Gas Analyser, AccuChek Inform II Glucose meters, Nova Stat Strip Glucose meters, Coaguchek INR meters, V-Trust Ketone meters and Hemocue Hb meters.

Working under the direction of the Pathology Support Service Lead the post holder will assist in the day to day management of Point of Care testing devices in the Trust, troubleshooting problems as they arise, and provide advice and support to users. They will also be expected to undertake administrative tasks within the department, monitor stock levels, and assist in the delivery of POCT EQA schemes.
