Specialist Doctor in Diabetes & Endocrinology

Job summary

Applications are invited for the post of Specialist Dr in Diabetes & Endocrinology at North Tees & Hartlepool NHS Foundation Trust. The successful candidate will contribute to the specialist diabetes and endocrinology services of the Trust in both in-patient and outpatient settings. They will work with the multi professional specialist team in developing the existing services and optimising integrated care pathways.

The post is based within the University Hospital of North Tees and outpatient services are provided in the outpatient departments in the University Hospital of North Tees and of Hartlepool and other community settings.

There will be opportunity for research experience within the diabetes programme.

The appointee will be expected to take part in educational activities.

Main duties of the job

Applications are invited for the post of Specialist Dr in Diabetes & Endocrinology at North Tees & Hartlepool NHS Foundation Trust. The successful candidate will work with our exciting and enthusiastic Diabetes & Endocrinology team across our sites at North Tees Hospital, Stockton and Hartlepool Hospital.

The post will be expected to facilitate Diabetes & Endocrinology clinics independently. They will be involved in reviewing inpatient referrals from all specialities.

There will be opportunity to contribute to General/Acute Medicine if mutually agreeable to candidate and the Trust.

The successful applicant will work with the multi professional specialist team in developing existing services and optimising integrated care pathways.

There is opportunity for teaching, supervision and research experience within the department

There will also be opportunities to attend specialist clinics like MDT Foot clinics, Combined Obstetric Medicine clinics, Transition and Young Persons Diabetes clinics.

  • GMC registration
  • MBBS or equivalent medical qualification
  • Previous training in the Diabetes & Endocrinology speciality

Desirable

  • MRCP

Experience

  • Clinical skills in Diabetes & Endocrinology
  • Completion of 4 years post graduate experience, at least 2 of which should be at a minimum of IMT 1-2 level
  • At least 2 years post graduate NHS experience
  • Clinical experience of outpatient work
  • Able to take independent responsibility for the service without direct supervision.

Desirable

  • Experience of working in a bust environment with competing demands.

Skills

  • Comprehensive knowledge of Diabetes & Endocrinology and ability to offer expert opinion
  • Ability to provide independent Diabetes & Endocrinology clinics
