Job summary
We are looking to appoint a Locum Consultant in Hand and Wrist surgery for a fixed term of 6 months. The successful candidate will work within a team of 4 Consultants to provide elective hand and wrist surgery and to contribute to the planned trauma care of the population of Teesside, Hartlepool and Durham.
Main duties of the job
Act as a Consultant to join an establishment of 19 consultants within the North Tees and Hartlepool NHS Foundation Trust. The post-holder will participate in the elective hand & wrist surgery and will participate in a separate hand trauma rota providing clinical expertise for hand trauma, working along side the existing Hand & Wrist Consultants.

The Trust has an established separate on call arrangement for hand trauma, which works in conjunction with the core trauma team and Accident and Emergency to provide all aspects of hand trauma services for its population.

Qualifications
Essential
- Full GMC registration
- FRCS (T&O) or post graduate diploma in hand surgery or within 6 months of CCT
- Fellowship trained in Hand & Wrist Surgery
Desirable
- An additional higher qualification relevant to the specialty
- MD, PhD or equivalent
Experience
Essential
- Specialised technical skills in hand and wrist
- Comprehensive knowledge of hand trauma
- Trained at a minimum of 5 years as specialist registrar
- Understands clinical risk management
