Provision with Consultant colleagues of a comprehensive emergency medicine service and to further enhance the diversity of skills already available to the department.
Main duties of the job
It is envisaged that the new Consultant will assume direct clinical role within the department and share responsibilities with the other Consultants. Practitioners will be expected in the normal run of their duties, to deputise for short term absence for their colleagues as far as is practicable both in clinical and managerial capacities. When deputising is not practicable, the Department shall be responsible for engaging locums, but the practitioner shall have the responsibility of brining the need to their notice. The senior medial staff hold a pivotal position in the department and must be committed to taking it forward.
Clinical duties will be shared with the present consultants and will include all duties normally expected in any major Emergency Department in the UK; however a proportion of direct clinical duties will be delivered at the Major Trauma Centre Emergency Department at James Cook University Hospital. The duties will normally be based at the University Hospitals of North Tees and will include support for the Tees Valley Urgent Care Service.
