The post holder will support the Antenatal and Newborn (ANNB) Screening Coordinator to ensure a high quality antenatal and Newborn screening service is provided for all women and their families.

To achieve this the Antenatal and Newborn Screening Team work in collaboration with NHSE Quality Assurance leads to monitor the quality and effectiveness of the screening services offered in the Trust and are consistent with the UK National Screening Committee recommendations (UKNSC) and NHSE programme standards, to meet the national service specification and thresholds set (except the Newborn hearing screening programme as this is managed within Tees Valley).

Main duties of the job

The post holder will support the ANNB Screening Coordinator to (deputising in his/her absence) to:

Manage screen positive results across the screening pathways.

Counsel women and their families in the event of an increased chance, antenatal screen positive result and fetal anomaly.

Collect and collate matched cohort screening data for quarterly and annual data KPI returns.

Write and present screening programme reports at local, regional and national level.

Participate in audit, education of staff and guideline development.

Regularly review and implement new processes/systems/fail-safes to reduce risk in antenatal and new-born screening.

Support the fetal medicine service as required.

Prepare for and attend relevant internal and external meetings e.g. Regional ANNB board meetings, local quarterly ANNB Screening meeting, regional fetal medicine.

Act as an excellent clinical role model and practice autonomously within the parameters of guidelines/policies and sphere of professional practiceManage & support the ANNB failsafe officer
