Job summary
The Breast Unit has an opportunity for a nurse to join our established team of specialist dedicated Breast Care Nurses.
This is a very busy unit. The team work within both the National Breast Screening service and the TeesWide symptomatic service providing specialist breast care services, advice, guidance and treatment for patients within the service.
Main duties of the job
A Breast Care Nurse acts as a resource to facilitate and co-ordinate the holistic care and treatment of patients referred to the breast service and will work within a multidisciplinary team of nurses, surgeons, radiologists, radiographers, oncologists and pathologists.They provide physical & psychological care to patients & carers from diagnosis, treatment and rehabilitation, and they act as an information resource to patients, carers and other health professionals.
The breast care nurse also care for patients with benign breast disease, those referred with family history of breast cancer or who are at high risk of developing breast cancer and those referred for reconstructive breast surgery.
Training may be considered for this post. If training is required, the salary will reflect the training need and will be aligned to AFC band 5.
The post holder would be based at University Hospital North Tees and would work across all sites as required by the service.
